Old Books

8 oz Candle

Regular price $18.00

We love the smell of old books! But not the rotten, mildewy kind – the sweet, papery sort. This soft, comforting scent makes you want to curl up in your favorite reading chair and leaf through stacks of worn, well-loved stories. Vanilla overtones transform into a lovely, complex aroma when melted.

Is there anything better?

Is there anything better than the smell of old book pages? The paper, the ink, the dust. HEAVEN. This candle is inspired! I can't get enough.

Love it!

Great scent, evocative of a well-aged paperback. Will be buying again.

Not Bad, but Really Disappointing

Contrary to what a lot of these reviews say, I thought the smell threw pretty well, especially since I got an 8 ounce candle. I could even notice it when it wasn't lit. However, I was EXTREMELY disappointed that this candle smells absolutely nothing like old books. Instead, it smells like a mixture of lemon and vanilla. That's a nice smell but not the one I want. I'm looking for an older, mustier smell. I've tried this candle and Oxford Library (I like the smell of that one, too), but neither are quite right. I really hope that Book Cellar has the right smell.

Candle is pretty, but I can't smell it.

The candle itself is beautiful, but when I'm burning it I can't smell it at all. Plus the wick burns weirdly, and the wax is always uneven. But when I'm simply picking it up for a quick smell, its a nice sent. I just wish it had the same effect when burning.

Thanks for reaching out Keke! Sometimes these issues are fixed by keeping your wick trimmed & making sure to burn the candle until the entire top is an evenly melted. I have sent you an email with these tips & solutions we can do from there :)
My new favorite scent

After trying the 2 oz size, I had to get the largest one to get as much of the scent out as possible since it is a milder scent, and I can confidently say it’s ascended to my new favorite candle scent of all time which isn’t an exaggeration. I’m addicted to the aged but fresh but also paper and subtle lemony scent haha. It’s the hardest thing to describe except it really does smell like good smelling paper leaflets bound in an old book. I think of Gandalf pouring over old books in the library in the beginning of Fellowhip of the Ring. And the pastel yellow color of the candle itself is so pretty. I now need to try New Paperback.
