Old Man Winter, Jack Frost, Morozko – you know him by many names and he is undoubtedly the king of cold. When darkness sets in early, the days growing short, this is when the Frost King is at his most powerful.
Windchill bites. Drafts bluster through cracks. Light up your candles and hearth to keep darkness at bay – don't forget to thank your house spirits! Cozy up with your warmest quilt, mug of tea, and a sweet treat (honey cakes, anyone?).
Top notes of wintergreen mint blend with a soft snowy musk and subtle yuzu to create this delightful seasonal scent. Though it's inspired by winter reading and fairy tales in general, it could definitely be interpreted as a holiday fragrance.
Our gift-sized 4oz tin offers 20+ hours of burn time. Great for bedrooms, desks, and cozy reading nooks, or as a thoughtful gift for your favorite book lover.

Frost King smells amazing and definitely evokes the mysterious winter forests of Rus’ from Katherine Arden’s Winternight trilogy. When I first saw the scent was “wintergreen,” and saw people describe it as “minty,” I was a little bit wary, because Morozko is supposed to smell of pine and water. (When I saw a review from someone who seemed to believe this was a Game of Thrones sent, I honestly laughed). Despite the key scent being Wintergreen instead of Morozko’s pine scent, I took a chance, because this is currently my most beloved series. And I’m SO happy I did! It’s not really minty, but has that crisp, cold smell of ice and snow, and definitely smells like a snowy forest. It’s the perfect ambiance as I re-read Winter of the Witch! (P.S. Please bring the 8 oz jar back!)
I just adore this candle, it makes my home smell perfectly snowy and its such a beauty to look at! Plus the soy candle is safe for pets, which is a huge selling point for me!
This is one of the freshest smelling candles. The wintergreen mint is incredible and soft at the same time.
a little strong, like somebody is blowing their minty breath in your face. But still nice?
The thing I enjoyed most about this candle was its link to The Winternight Trilogy, which I very much enjoyed. The scent itself is nice; definitely has a chill to it which reminded me of Morozko. If just picking a winter candle, though, this is still a runner up to Winter Keep for me.
When I saw that Frostbeard made a Morozko themed candle, I had to get it instantly, and I do not regret it whatsoever. The Winternight Trilogy is one of my favorite book series of all time. When I burn this, I can picture the frigid, desolate winters of medieval Russia, and I can smell the icy winds of winter. I wish this wasn't a limited release. I'd purchase a couple more, if I could.
This candle is subtle & not as strong strong as I thought it would be, but when I walk into a room where it is burning, I can smell the cold! Cool trick for something on fire.
It was an okay aroma, but not one I could not wait to burn. Not a strong scent, despite the description. Glad I got it on sale.
Oh my gosh I love it - so fresh and clean and wintry. I hope it comes back!
Not my normal type of scent, but this was a good choice. My teenagers stole it before I has a chance to do more than smell it, but I enjoy it when I walk by their bedrooms
Lovely fragrance. Do you add a bit of magic to the formula of your candles? So far I haven't found one that I haven't liked and my son and daughter in law say the same thing. We are bewitched I think and loving every minute. The candles really do enhance the atmosphere in a home. Relaxing and very homey. Thank you.
I'm finding that the 2 oz tin I ordered as tester is actually serving perfectly for how I've ended up using it! About 15 minutes before I head to bed I light her up and then blow her out as I simmer down. The scent is subtle and cold and makes warming up under the covers a dream. Lasting long enough to set the mood for a bit of reading before I pass out! thanks
Great candle! Very wintery and just sharp enough to make you notice!
I have just put my first tart of this scent on to my melter. I find it at first, to be quite strong, but I find that to be true of a lot of the tarts when you first put them on the melter. After the scent fades down a bit. I definitely smell a coniferous tree scent and the musky scent mentioned in the above description. I get the hints of coldness and snow. This is a good, masculine scent, and makes me feel like I'm walking in a winter forest. Clean and crisp.
I was afraid it would be too minty, but I took a chance anyway. I'm so glad I did! It's a perfect, fresh winter scent. More woodsy than minty. It smells like a cold forest. Exquisite!
I gave this as a gift to my friend. While i dislike the smell, he adores it and finds it very nostalgic! Its not too strong, which he prefers.
So I saw this go up on the webiste before I realized it was also a candle of the month, and I ended up buying 2! Totally happy surprise because it smells incredible. Definitely a winter scent, but not your typical over processed fake tree's one. Plus it's super pretty!
Smells like icy cold winters. Vaguely soapy, but not bad when lit. Very chill candle.
This is what I would call a winter candle. It gives you the smell and feel of winter without any of the cold. I like to burn it when I am knitting under a blanket or just reading in my room.
I like this candle and I'm glad I gave it a shot. Not my favorite one to come out but it's a solid winter candle and it's a nice change from the holiday baking scents you usually come across this time of year.
This was the best one out of the three I bought. It smells like being outside in a forest on a winter's night.
This candle smells just like an icy forest would. Got it as a gift for my boyfriend who loved it. A great new addition to our growing Frostbeard collection.
What a delicious scent! It smells crisp, sharp, cold - like a winter villain's dark hearted smile. Embrace your inner-badguy and smell fantastic doing it.
Refreshing wintery candle! Pleasant scent for relaxing with a book in a cozy chair. Will re-order when available.
Evokes the wintery King of the Staryk in Novik's wonderfully written novel. Would be perfect to burn or melt while reading that excellent work. (Or as a gift alongside a gifted copy of it!) Winter minty, softly spicy, lightly soapy, a bit of the--mysterious but clean like a northern winter forest--these are the impressions this scent evokes for me
This candle puts you in the mind of a very chilly winter.
at first whiff, I wasn't quite sure of this scent. strong, kind of woodsy.
but once it started burning, wow. no ragrets (ha). but seriously. a great addition to my ever-growing candle collection.
obsessed.
I love a good mint candle, so ordered two of these. I'm glad I did, because in my large livingroom, I could not smell it with just one burning. I didn't love this on a cold sniff. It came off as a cologne type scent, but once lit & I could smell it, it is quite nice. Not a super cold mint & it lost the cologne notes. I think there might be a touch of vanilla, but also minty enough to be frosty & festive for the holidays. I would recommend it, but get two if you have a large space.
I ordered this candle the day it was released, and I was so excited to get it; the color, name, and description made me think of White Walkers and the Night King. I also made sure to order it right when it came out, because last month when I tried to order an 8oz of Darcy's Parlor, it was sold out. Although the candle is advertised as being "moderate/strong," I can barely smell it--hot or cold. That being said, what I CAN smell is horrible: it has a soapy, lotion-y, processed smell, like something you could buy anywhere; it does not have a special, unique smell that I have come to associate with Frostbeard's candles. Finally, the color is a much lighter shade than pictured here, which is not a big deal, but the darker blue was one of the reasons why I ordered this candle in the first place (think: Night King and blue-eyed corpses). Overall, huge disappointment and waste of money.
Candles are heavy and fragile, but we're great at packaging them up safely. If any item breaks in the mail, we'll replace it for free.
