The Fall TV Shows We're Most Excited to See in 2018

Fall is an amazing season. The leaves change color and fill our world with orange, red, and yellow goodness while delicious drinks are brewed with the season’s flavors and spices. We even get in on the action by creating our own line of book themed fall candles. What better time to curl up and enjoy a new series or get back into an old favorite? And this time, we’re not just talking about books, we’re talking about fall tv!

The 2018 fall tv schedule looks really strong, and we’re beyond excited to see some of our past favorites get new seasons as well as watch the new titles that are already being added to our binge list. To enhance your viewing pleasure, we’re taken the liberty of creating this handy fall tv show guide to help you find the shows you need to watch in 2018. Here are just a few of our favorites.

Hilda

Based on the fantastic graphic novels, Hilda is a cartoon that appeals to both kids and adults. The world is a mash-up of Scandinavian landscapes and architecture with fantastical creatures and modern technology. It's also adorable. Hilda has a "deerfox" named Twig who accompanies her on their adventures. The show has excellent writing and a unique art style with bold shapes and colors. If you're looking for something sweet and charming, give this animated show a look! The books are great, too.

The Big Bang Theory

The show that you can always watch with your parents or that one uncle who you only see twice a year; The Big Bang Theory. Yes, that Big Bang Theory. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just a passive watcher, you have to appreciate the fact that this show will begin its twelfth season this fall on Monday, September 24, on CBS at 8 p.m. ET. That’s right; twelfth! That’s crazy for a modern tv show. Rivaling the duration of sitcom and drama favorites like Grey’s Anatomy and Cheers, this will be the last season for the Big Bang crew. We’re expecting that the show will stay true to its name and really go out… with a bang.

Better Call Saul

Looking to fill that Breaking Bad-sized hole in your heart? You’re in luck, because, Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad sort of spin-off (more like a Breaking Bad prequel) came back on August 6th! This is the show’s fourth season, and in it, we’re edging ever closer to our favorite Breaking Bad timeline.

King Lear

What do Emma Thompson, Emily Watson, Florence Pugh, Jim Broadbent, Tobias Menzies, and Anthony Hopkins all have in common? Kind Lear! If you’re a true Shakespeare lover than be prepared to have your Shakespearean socks blown off because Amazon is releasing their 21st-century adaptation of the classic on September 28th! Using all of the original text, this new adaptation is set in a highly militarized London and promises to be amazing. Technically this is a movie, but you could classify it as a made-for-tv-movie, but since it’s coming out on Amazon, it might be considered more of a traditional film. But whatever, we’re excited, and we’re including it in our list.

Made in Mexico

Another September 28th debut, Made in Mexico follows the lavish and somewhat outlandish lifestyles of Mexico City's wealthiest elite and their crazy lives and the crazier company they keep. Watch as dynasties rise and fall and as common folk try to earn a spot amongst the upper crust. The new show will be released on Netflix, so feel free to binge away.

Marvel's Iron Fist

Let’s be real, the first season of Marvel's Iron Fist was awful. Like, really, really, awful. Buuut, we’re hopeful that season two will get this train back on track. We loved Jessica Jones and Luke Cage the most out of all the Marvel shows to hit Netflix last year, but the trailer for this upcoming season of Iron Fist makes us hopeful that just maybe this season will be better. If nothing else, we might get some good Defenders Easter eggs.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse

When it comes to American Horror Story, each season can be hit or miss. Points are always given for the originality and creativity that it must take to make this show, so our fingers are crossed that this season is going to be a good one. This season is slated to be the crossover between the  Murder House and Coven seasons that we’ve been waiting for.

Kidding

Who doesn’t love some prime Jim Carrey? Well, he’s back as Mr. Pickles, also known as Jeff when he’s not filming his hit children’s television show. At first glance, you’d think that this new Showtime original was just going to be a Mr. Rodgers-esque comedy, but in all reality, this show has some real depth to it. Here’s the description of the new series from the Showtime website (because honestly, we couldn’t figure out how to describe this one).

The description starts by explaining how Mr. Pickles is helping to positively shape the young minds of American’s children by providing uplifting children’s programming, it then goes on to state:

But when this beloved personality's family begins to implode, Jeff finds no fairy tale, fable or puppet will guide him through the crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. The result: a kind man in a cruel world faces a slow leak of sanity as hilarious as it is heartbreaking.
