Community Outreach

Part of Our Mission at Frostbeard is to make a positive difference in our world by helping to promote literacy and the love of reading. By connecting with teachers, librarians and students, along with other local businesses, we hope to do this through various forms of community outreach.

Here we will highlight some of our past events and programs, as well as any current projects.

Ongoing Events

Youth Candlemaking Workshop at our studio

Youth Workshops

We offer youth candlemaking workshops to local organizations. Students learn about the creative process, handmade traditional crafts, and the challenges of a small retail business.

We're currently working with youth programs to create a "Southside" community-themed fundraising candle, with all proceeds going to local nonprofit organizations. Participants of the youth workshops will work together to create a unique candle inspired by their community. We're also working to have opportunities for participants to help sell the candles they made at art fairs and farmers markets.

Ace in the City Back2School Bash Book Drive

Book Drives

We partner up with local organizations to help run book drives for various causes. In the past we've worked with Ace in the City (with the help of Magers & Quinn Booksellers) for their Back2School Bash, which collected hundreds of new, diverse books for K-8 students in Powderhorn, Minneapolis.

We frequently donate our candles to silent auction fundraiser events for libraries and other literary organizations. Unfortunately, due to shipping costs and budgetary restrictions, we have to limit these donations to U.S. literary organizations only and do not give donations to individuals.

Special Events

Hosting Book Parties

We have a beautiful studio space and are happy to partner with local organizations in need of an event space, especially if the event is book themed! We hosted a book release party for Powderhorn365, a program through our neighborhood association, PPNA, where photographers capture one picture each day and have an art book printed each year. We have also served as a meeting place for planning committees for book drives and other activities.

Uplifting and cozy

Delicious like all of their coffee scents! The cinnamon bun is there but not overpowering

Warm and cozy

This smells just as I would expect based on the description. The cinnamon roll adds a warm hint of spice and baked good yumminess and the coffee adds another layer of cozy decadence. Definitely a winner.

This one is for my partner who is an avid Tolkien fan.

This one, I’m excited to give it to my mum with a subscription to a letter set based on Jane Austen’s writing. The company is called Flower Letters, I believe, and I think this candle will be most complimentary for them.

I’m just excited about these candles and reading with them lit on the table beside me.

Always such a lovely treat

I love this idea. I had a little extra this month so I decided to get one to add to my order. It was a little Back to Wizard School scent. I have this in a larger size and it's delicious! A definite favorite! So nice to have the mini version for my desk!

I'm blown away. I think it's one of your best scents.

It's been awhile since I've bought a candle where it was so good I never got tired of the scent and hoped it would be around all year. This is one of them. The cinnamon isn't as sharp as expected but mild, warm. Very nice. Definitely a bakery scent, but not overwhelming. Definitely NOT plasticy-smelling or artificial. It's comforting. I'm very sensitive when it comes to odors/scents and this one has been a dream. Sometimes there are scents with a spice element that for whatever reason my eyes or skin start reacting to it. I don't get that with this candle. Very pleased and will be buying more!

The Grump

I love the earthiness of this scent. I also love that the company quickly sent me a replacement along with a free smalll candle when there was a mix-up with the delivery!

I love the popcorn and cola smell of this scent. I also love that the company quickly sent me a replacement when the post office delivered the original shipment to Kansas instead of Washington state!

Perfect wintry scent

This is such an enchanting scent. All of the notes are so well balanced. It is very wintry, and mysterious. I was afraid the tobacco would be too strong but it isn’t, and adds a really nice depth to the candle.

Unexpected but delightful

I thought it would be fairly earthy, and I would describe it more as fresh, but it smells lovely. Before burning it the spices smelled really strong, but once you start burning it the scents even out really nicely. It’s definitely giving whimsy and faerie. This is my first “mild” candle from Frostbeard, and it’s exactly what I would expect for throw.

Always a favorite

A perfect warm scent for spring. Love this one!

Perfect! Reminds me of Emily Wilde

Loved this candle and the book that (I think?) inspired it. Lovely woodland scent.

Absolutely the best smell that has ever existed. I am not exaggerating. It’s better than fajitas.

Faerie Door

I was not impressed with these candles, especially for the price. The scent was almost nonexistent with some, and others did not smell at all how they were described. They do burn cleanly and evenly, which is why I gave them 2 stars and not one, but I would not spend the money to buy them again.

Don't get stuck in a snowdrift without one

Very pine-forward with sweet, tobacco-y notes in the background. A lighter scent than the other candles I've purchased from Frostbeard, and I mean that as a positive. It's also an excellent candle to have burning in the background to complement a steaming cup of black tea? I'm assuming it's something to do with tannins.

Spring candles

I love the various scents of your candles. Scents are strongly attached to memories and these bring back wonderful ones! Thanks so much!

Would buy this again

I bought this as a gift and was extremely tempted to keep it myself. Perfect fall candle and decently strong. Love it!

Study Break Chai Latte
Anonymous (Warrington, PA)

Once lit, I feel these lost a little of the distinct chai smell. Still enjoyable enough, but I've enjoyed other candles more.

Give it a shot!

At first, I thought this would be more of an incense-like scent, which are not always my favorite. However, it really is a pleasant more mellow background scent! Definitely one I am glad to have tried!

Faerie Door
Molly (Enfield, NH)
Another favorite

I always have to order Hafling Hills as soon as it comes out so I decided to try Faire Door and I am so glad I did. The earthy scents are comforting and the fern gives it a softer spring note.

Mountain Lodge Madness
Molly (Enfield, NH)
A little sweet but nice

I like this one. As others have said it can be a little sweet smelling, so I only burn it for so long. It has a nice throw and fills a room without being overwhelming.

Old Books
David D. (Prattville, AL)
Smells like vanilla soap

I was optimistic given the ingredient list, but sadly the candle smells like vanilla soap rather than old books. The scent itself is pleasant, but I was hoping for more than a vanilla candle.
